                                    ~Imprisoned Apostles freed~

Acts 5:17, Then the high Priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in a common prison. But at night Pan angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, “Go stand in the Temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.” And when they heard that they entered the Temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent them to the prison to have them brought. But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported , saying,”Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside. I think I will stop here and try to explain these verses.
The imprisonment of the Apostles apparently was a common event in the early church.  V-19,(An angel of the Lord;) The word for angel basically means “Messenger.” The phrase “angel of the Lord,” is commonly used in the  OT. To refer to spiritual messengers of God   sometimes they came as humans other times they were angelic beings.  They still do till this day, I keep my angel busy. In this event it is clear that a super natural visitor  is in view, but the guards did not see him.  V-20, Note that the angel’s orders were not to leave the city, but to go to the Temple. Courts, where the disciples had    First been arrested, and speak to the people. The fact that the disciples would return to the place of their arrest was an open testimony to the Jewish leaders and the General public that these men were willing to die for the truth they were  proclaiming. The same thing is happening today and Christians are not letting down what they have in Jesus Christ.  This is just a quick way to Heaven, I sure won’t deny Jesus.  In the next lesson we will learn more about what happened.
