                                               ~Apostles on trial again~

Acts 5-24,

Now when the high priest, the captain of the Temple, and the Chief Priest heard these things, they wondered what would be the outcome. V-25, So one came and told them saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple teaching the people!” V-26, Then the captain went and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned. V-27, And when they had brought them before the High Priest ask them, saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look ,you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!” V-29, But Peter and the other Apostles answered and said; “We aught to obey God rather than men. “ V-30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.
V-31, “Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. “ V-32 And we are His witnesses to these things and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” I need to stop here and finish with explaining, The next topic will be good also, but it would make the lesson too long to try to get into it, and if I started it I couldn’t finish it with this.  I like this that Peter still has enough of the Holy Spirit about him that he is not afraid to tell them like it is. We know that it sure is better to obey God rather than man.  Praise God for His Holy Spirit, some people like to still call Him the Holy Ghost, but it is all the same. Peter and the other Apostles, said, (We aught to obey God rather than men.)As the counsel accused them of being disobedience to Authority, Peter put the charge in context. Jesus had said, “You shall be witnesses to Me,” ch.1:8, The counsel said, “You shall not be His witnesses.”
All authority comes from God.  When any Authority commands what God has forbidden, or forbids what God has commanded, A Christian must obey the God of all Authority, God Himself.  We must be careful who we summit to these days, the Government is as crooked as they come and the devil is going bout seeking who he can devour. He knows he don’t have long to work, so people be very careful.  In verse 30, the tree refers to the cross, See (Deut. 21:22-23; 1 Peter 2:24.”  V-31, The declaration that (God had exalted  to His right Hand,) would have been understood but he Sanhedrin as a reference to the resurrection. The Apostles claim regarded the resurrected Jesus equal with God.  See John 5:18; 10:33) Sure He was and is equal with God.  God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. These three make up the God head.    The next   lesson you don’t want to miss. We will finish up the trial tomorrow, it is good.
